Controller & Riding Controls
Three speed modes: low holds output at 50% for tight yards and learner laps, mid sits at 70-80% for everyday driving, and high releases the full 100% on open ground.
Twist grip or foot throttle: both are supplied, so you can run a bar-mounted twist grip on a kart or a pedal throttle on a quad or mini bike frame.
Power lock and mode switch: the key immobilises the drive while the machine is parked, and the bar-mounted 3-speed switch changes mode without stopping.
Controller build: the 48V brushless motor controller is a 12-MOSFET, 120° phase unit that works with a Hall-sensor motor and supports e-braking, charging and a light output.
Motor Construction & Cooling
Inside the aluminium housing sits an all-copper coil and a high-quality rotor magnet, the two parts that decide how well a brushless DC electric motor holds its output as it warms up. The body is deliberately compact and light next to older units of the same rating, which makes it easier to tuck into a tight kart chassis and leaves more room for the battery tray. Wind-cooling holes through the housing let heat escape during repeated runs, and that matters on a small kart that spends its life accelerating and braking rather than cruising. The sturdy aluminium shell also shrugs off the knocks of workshop fitting and track-day use.
Mounting & Wiring
Unpack the brushless motor kit and check off the contents: 1000W motor, 30A speed controller, handlebar twist-grip throttle, foot throttle, power-lock key, T8F 11-tooth sprocket, T8F chain and 3-speed switch.
Bolt the motor to your engine plate with the output shaft square to the axle — a few minutes spent lining this up saves chain wear later.
Fit the sprocket and chain, then set tension with a little free play at the tightest point of the run.
Run the controller wiring to the battery pack, plug in the Hall-sensor lead and throttle, and mount the power-lock key within reach of the seat.
Test with the rear wheels off the ground: check all three speed modes, the throttle response and the key switch before the first run.
Applications & Compatible Builds
First kart builds: a sensible starting point if you are assembling an electric motor kit for go kart use on a light frame, where 1000W gives enough pull for a beginner or a casual driver without overwhelming the chassis.
Quads and small ATVs: the mid-drive layout and compact body suit a quad with limited under-seat space, and the foot throttle is the natural control on this kind of machine.
Mini motorcycles and pit bikes: a light mid-drive motor keeps the centre of gravity low and leaves the wheels free of extra hub hardware.
Scooter and e-bike conversions: where a frame already has a motor cradle and a chain run, this unit slots into the same position instead of forcing a wheel rebuild.
Workshop spares: repair shops that see the same small machines come back with a burnt-out motor or controller can fit this complete set rather than chasing parts one at a time.
Technical Support & Model Matching
Not sure which motor suits your build? Our team helps you match a brushless motor or complete kit to your voltage, wattage, sprocket type and controller, so the parts work together from the first ride. We can advise on sine-wave controller pairings for Hall motors, sprocket and chain compatibility, and temperature-sensor options for builds that run hot. Need a base-mounted version or a different power rating? Just ask. We also guide installation, wiring and basic fault-finding once your order arrives.
FAQ
Does the kit run on a 36V pack as well as 48V?
Yes. The motor and the 48V brushless motor controller both accept 36V and 48V packs, so you can build around the battery you already have. What changes is the balance: on 36V the motor turns slower and draws more current for the same wattage, while 48V spins it faster at a lower current draw. Both sets of figures are listed in the specification table.
How do I make the motor run in reverse?
Reverse comes from the controller, either through the reversing wire or a handlebar-mounted reverse switch. Use it for manoeuvring only — holding the motor in reverse for long stretches is hard on it, so it should never become a driving mode.
How long is the motor cable, and will it reach a rear-mounted motor?
Motor wiring runs about 150 cm (59 in) from the housing, which covers most rear-mounted kart and quad layouts with the controller under the seat or beside the battery tray. Route it clear of the chain and any hot parts, and clip it down so it cannot rub through.
What maintenance does the motor need?
Not much beyond the basics. Check chain tension and re-torque the motor bolts after the first few runs, keep the cooling holes clear of dust and grass, and look over the throttle and Hall-sensor plugs for anything loose. A quick once-over after each session keeps a brushless DC electric motor running sweetly.
Are a battery and charger included?
No. This brushless motor kit supplies the motor, controller, throttles, switches, sprocket and chain; you add the battery pack and a charger. Pick a pack whose voltage matches the controller, and make sure it can supply the current the drive asks for.
Will this electric go kart motor kit fit my kart's engine plate?
Mounting points differ from frame to frame, so measure the bolt spacing on your engine plate and compare it with the motor body before you order. If the numbers look tight, send them over and our team will confirm which configuration suits your build.
