Voltage & Power Options
36 V builds: the lightest tier, well suited to compact commuter scooters and small e-bikes where the pack is already 36 V and a clean, quiet swap matters more than top speed.
48 V builds: the widest choice of power ratings here, and the usual pick for adult scooters, e-bikes and light go-karts that need extra pull on inclines.
60 V builds: a step up in speed for riders whose controller and battery are already rated for 60 V.
72 V builds: the top of the range, aimed at mini e-motorcycles, heavier scooters and karts with the electrical system to carry it.
Match the pack first: choose the voltage your battery and controller already run, then pick the power rating that gives the acceleration you want. If you are unsure which brushless motor build you have, send us the label from the old unit.
Mounting, Sprocket & Chain
The output shaft ends in a T8F 11-tooth chainwheel, and this motor is built to run T8F chain. The quickest way to confirm fitment is to look at the driveline already on your machine: if the old mid motor drove a T8F chain through an 11-tooth sprocket, the replacement lines up with the same run and you can normally reuse the existing chain.
Mounting Style
Two versions are available: motor only, or motor with a bracket. Take the bracket version when the unit bolts to a plate on the frame, and the motor-only version when you are reusing the cradle and hardware from the old unit.
Chain Tension
Set the chain with a little slack rather than pulling it tight. An over-tightened chain loads the sprocket and output bearing, while a loose one can skip teeth under hard acceleration. Check the run again after the first few rides.
Applications
Street scooters: the most common job for this electric scooter motor is replacing a tired original motor on a 36 V or 48 V commuter scooter, where the frame, chain run and controller are already in place and only the motor needs to change.
Mini e-motorcycles and mopeds: a 60 V or 72 V version gives a small-frame bike more pull off the line while keeping the original chain run.
E-bike and e-tricycle conversions: builders starting from a rolling frame pair this unit with their own battery, controller and throttle to motorise a bike or a cargo trike.
Go-karts and buggies: for a mid drive motor kit going onto a small yard or off-road kart, the mid-mounted layout keeps weight central and leaves the rear axle free.
Repair shops and small builders: workshops that buy electric motors for repair work keep a rating or two on the shelf so a customer's machine is back in service quickly.
Technical Support & Model Matching
Not sure which motor suits your build? Our team helps you match a brushless motor or complete kit to your voltage, wattage, sprocket type and controller, so the parts work together from the first ride. We can advise on sine-wave controller pairings for Hall motors, sprocket and chain compatibility, and temperature-sensor options for builds that run hot. Need a base-mounted version or a different power rating? Just ask. We also guide installation, wiring and basic fault-finding once your order arrives.
FAQ
Will this electric scooter motor fit my existing frame?
Check three things: the voltage your pack runs, the chain type on the machine, and how the old motor is mounted. This model covers 36 V to 72 V and drives a T8F 11-tooth sprocket, so if your old unit ran a T8F chain in the same voltage range, it is a like-for-like swap. Send a photo of the old label if you want it confirmed first.
Can I use the brushless motor controller I already have?
Yes, as long as the voltage matches the variant you choose and the controller's continuous current rating covers the motor's draw. Current figures vary across the range, and the 72 V unit pulls noticeably more than the 36 V one. Tell us which controller you are running and we will confirm the pairing before you order.
Does the motor come with a controller, throttle or chain?
No - this listing is the motor on its own, which suits anyone replacing a failed unit on a machine that already runs. Add the bracket version if your frame holds the motor on a mounting plate. If you are building from scratch and need the whole set, ask us about a mid drive motor kit with the matching controller, throttle and chain.
Does this brushless motor need a fan or extra cooling?
No. The aluminium body and full copper coil are built for natural air cooling, so the motor sheds heat as it runs without a fan or water circuit. Keep the mounting area clear of mud and debris that would block airflow, and give the motor a moment to cool before washing the machine down.
Is this the same brushless DC electric motor that came on my machine?
Not always - many scooters and small e-bikes use a similar-looking mid motor with a different sprocket or voltage. Match the chain type, the sprocket tooth count, the pack voltage and the mounting style against the unit you are replacing, then order the closest variant. If the old motor has no label, send us photos and we will help.
Will it run quietly?
This is a brushless design, so there are no brushes to chatter and commutation stays smooth. Combined with natural air cooling and no fan, it runs quietly enough for daily commuting. A whine or rattle that appears later usually comes from chain tension or a worn sprocket rather than the motor itself.
